Scouting for Food

Do you know about Scouting for Food? It’s been a project of the BSA for decades. Scouts go out on one weekend (November 3), place flyers on the doors of their neighbors, and come back later (November 10) to pick up the food and take it to a local food bank.

.

We will need 9 Drivers for each of the two dates.

Please dress accordingly as this is an outdoor event and will occur rain or shine.

November 3

Plan to arrive at 8:30 a.m. We will be disturbing flyers (sticky notes) . Plan to meet out front / in the lobby and hand out the routes. We estimate it will take for 1 -2 hours if we have enough drivers and scouts to cover each route.

November 10

Please arrive at 8:15 am. We will be handing out the routes for pickup. It is important that the boys help with the sorting and loading of the food for delivery to the food pantry. Plan for 3-4 hours. Donuts coffee and hot chocolate will be provided.

Each Scout should plan to bring 25 boxes on November 10when we collect food. So please reach out to places like Total Wine, Shoppers, Costco, UPS, etc. If you call a store ahead of time and ask when you can collect boxes, they will typically tell you when they have inventory arrive and many boxes available. Ask them to reserve some boxes for you to pick up that morning.
