Bike Hike on the C&O Canal May 19-20 2018

Post date: May 07, 2018 3:20:20 PM

We bike from White's Ferry to Brunswick (19miles) and then another 6 miles to Harper's Ferry. We will spend time in Harper's Ferry visiting the museums and shops before biking back the 6 miles to Brunswick Family Campground. The length might seem like a lot, but it is flat and easy biking... approachable by all ages.

On Saturday, scouts should show up in their Activity Shirts (Troop T-Shirts), not their field uniform shirts. As you all were instructed, bring a day pack (or book bag) with the Scout Essentials (see your handbook) and a bag lunch. Make sure you have plenty of water. You will

bike with the day pack. Dress for the weather (wear your rain gear). Pack your weekend camping gear in a separate bag (tent, sleeping bag, etc.). We'll drop this gear as well as your weekend food at the campsite for use on Saturday night.

Please check out your bikes prior to Saturday morning. Make sure your tires are full, gears are in good order, and mechanically the bike is in

good shape. Remember a bike helmet. You will not be allowed to bike without one (including adults). A+ for scouts who bring the maintenance

gear that Mitch went over tonight.

Bring the permission slipssigned on Saturday morning. If you haven't given your health forms to Mr. Cahoon this year prior to this campout, please bring them as well (see link: https://www.scouting.org/health-and-safety/ahmr/ "All Scouting Events").

See you all on Saturday Morning at 7AM at the Church.
